The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival

The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival takes place the last weekend of August at the Mountjoy Historical Conservation Park, Mattagami River).

This festival event includes continuous live entertainment and concerts, leisure paddles and river tours, beer tents, the Alzheimer’s Society Duck Race, and over 50 exhibitors featuring local artists, businesses, organizations, and non-profit organizations. The Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Kayak For the Heart of It Challenge, where you and 2 others can register to race in a 3 seated kayak!

The Challenge includes 9 divisions and up to $15,000 in cash plus plenty of bragging rights.

  • Senior Recreational 6.5km
  • Youth 6.3km
  • Celebrity 3km

Registration closes at 4pm on the Thursday leading to the event weekend.
