The Hilliardton Marsh Research & Education Centre offers a unique opportunity to see a bird research station in action. Banding happens in the spring and fall and offers bird watchers and nature enthusiasts a chance to see birds being banded. The second weekend in August you can enjoy seeing hummingbirds banded at our annual hummingbird garden party.

After seeing birds banded and released kids also can enjoy catching aquatic creatures at our floating docks. You will be amazed at how excited kids are to catch frogs and leeches! The marsh is also expanding its interpretive trail network that allows visitors to enjoy a self guided interpretive walk learning more about wetlands and the many species that call the marsh their home.

The marsh is the perfect place for kids and adults alike. You will marvel at the colours of the many birds that make the boreal forest their home. Visitors are encouraged to visit our website to see our hours of operations and to ask any questions you may have to ensure your visit to the marsh is a memorable one.
