As we’re heading into winter, we here at Northeastern Ontario Tourism want to take a moment to thank you all for choosing our region for your fall travel. We hope that you’ve made some memories that will keep you coming back for years to come. Our members and communities across the region have worked hard to make sure travel here is safe and enjoyable.

We’re looking forward to plenty of snow this winter to make your time here extra fun. Northeastern Ontario tends to get cold earlier than the rest of the province, and gets lots of snow which makes snowmobiling, skiing and ice fishing conditions just incredible. We’ll be posting lots about these iconic activities, as well as the wonderful places to stay while you’re here.

While we appreciate that some regions of the province may be under travel advisory, we encourage those who live in areas with controlled spread of the virus to travel safely and stay local.

OFSC Trail App

On the snowmobiling side, the OFSC has announced some changes to how they are managing trails this year. The best way to stay informed is to download their free app, which will let you know about any travel restrictions or trail closures. To get a taste of what snowmobiling in our beautiful region is all about, check out this vid produced by Ontario Tourism and What A Ride on our behalf.

The Art of Ice Fishing

Ice fishing throughout the Northeast will be one of the best ways to enjoy winter, and we have perfected it to an art.

Skiing & Snowboarding Updates

Stay tuned for an update to our skiing and snowboarding page as we look at all of the ski hills across our region to help you make some winter fun bucket lists!

Plan Now for Spring & Summer

For those of you unable to travel this winter, we highly recommend making your spring and summer bookings now – the provincial government has issued a 20% travel credit for people travelling within Ontario, and we’re hearing that many local lodges are filling up months in advance.

As always, you can order a printed guide from us here anytime!

We’re looking forward to seeing you.
